Sharjah stepped up to the plate on Monday after fog closed Doha's airport.
Sharjah International Airport handled four Qatar Airways flights on January 9 after dense fog temporarily closed Doha International.
All flights were accommodated between 0515 and 0710 and were refueled by Sharjah Aviation Services before being given the go-ahead to continue to Doha.
The flights came from Mumbai, Dubai, Madras and Cape Town.
Tony Smith, general manager, Sharjah Aviation Services, said: “Our highly competent ground crew were on hand to make sure that stands were ready and that re-fuelling was immediately available.”
All flights departed Sharjah as soon as Doha was able to reopen.
