Cuba is the new Ibiza, apparently.
Everybody wants in on the hot spot these days, particularly after the United States normalized diplomatic relations with Cuba and U.S.-based airlines began commercial passenger service to Cuba last month.
Now, Alitalia is introducing a new route to Cuba.
Italy’s national carrier will begin twice-weekly nonstop service between Rome and Havana beginning Nov. 29, according to media reports. The non-stop service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays via Alitalia’s Boeing 777 aircraft.
“Tourism and business in Cuba have great growth prospects for Italians and this new service to this wonderful island will go towards fulfilling that ambition,” Cramer Ball, Alitalia’s CEO, said in a statement. “The Havana flights is yet further confirmation of Alitalia’s strategy to build our long-haul network of intercontinental flights to give Italians greater opportunities to travel further afield for both leisure and business.”

According to the Aviation Tribune, Alitalia’s new direct flights will depart from Rome Fiumicino airport every Tuesday at 9:05 a.m. and arrive in Havana at 3 p.m. Cuba time. On Saturdays, flights will depart Rome at 10:35 am and arrive at 4.30 p.m.
The return flight from Havana on Tuesdays will take off at 5 p.m. Cuba time and Rome at 9 a.m. the next day. On Saturdays, the flight will leave Cuba at 6:30 pm and land in Rome Fiumicino at 10:30 am
