q Remember for every one hour of flying there should be five hours of ground study. This isn’t a 200 hour course but really a 1320 hour course!
q 200 Flight Hours + 1000 Study Hours + 120 Hours of Groundschool (PPL, CPL & IFR)
q If you keep up with your studying you will not have to stop to study for the written exams, which will save you time and money throughout your training. Even if it seems you are between courses you should continue studying because what you don’t use you lose!

PreSolo
· Medical
· PSTAR
· Radio Operator Licence
· Type Exam (C152, C172 or Citabria)
· National average for Solo 18 Hours (slightly higher here due to airspace)
· Average of 100 takeoffs and landings completed prior to Solo (remember that you do at least one every flight!)
PostSolo
· Air Exercises, Cross Country and Flight Test Prep
· PPL Written exam
· PPL Flight Test
- PPL Completed at National Average 65 Hours
NIGHT RATING
15 Hours total Flight Time
· 5 Hours more Instrument Training (total 10 Hours)
· 5 hours Dual Night including 2 hour Dual night Cross Country
· 5 Hours Solo Night
- Night Rating Completed by 80 Hours
MOUNTAIN CHECK
3 Hours Total Flight Time
· 3 Hour Dual Cross Country
· 3 – 4 Hours of Ground Briefing after reading required material
- Mountain Check Completed by 83 Hours
USA CHECK (Visa required)
3 Hours Total Flight Time
· 3 Hour Dual Cross Country
· 1 – 3 Hours of Ground Briefing regarding flying in USA, Customs etc.
- USA Check Completed by 86 Hours
PIC CROSS COUNTRY (50 Hours total time required for IFR)
44 Hours Average Flight Time required after PPL & Night Rating
· 44 Hours of PIC Cross Country
· Studying for CPL Written Exam while completing the Cross Country. You should be able to complete 2 –3 hours of studying for CPL Written Exam and 3 – 4 Hours of Cross Country 5 days a week during this time if you are a Full time Student (all International Students are Full Time)
· At 100 hours total time CPL Written Exam should be completed
· After every 10 hours of PIC Cross Country a Dual Flight should be completed to check your skill proficiency and to check in with your Instructor on your progress

COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE FLIGHT TEST PREPARATION
20 Hours Total Flight Time
· 20 Hours of Dual and Solo Training towards CPL Flight Test proficiency
· 2 - 3 Hours Ground briefing for CPL Flight Test Preparation
· CPL Pre-Flight Test
· At 150 Hours total time CPL Flight Test should be completed
- CPL Flight Test Preparation Completed at 150 Hours
MULTI IFR TRAINING
25 Hours Total Flight Time and 22 Hours Total Simulator Time
· 22 Hours Dual Simulator
· IFR Written Exam
· 25 Hours Dual ME & IFR Training
· ME Flight Test
· IFR Flight Test
- MIFR Training Completed at 175 Hours
COMPLETION OF REMAINING LICENCING REQUIREMENTS
25 Hours Total Flight Time
· Confirm that you meet the Canadian Licencing Requirements
· Confirm if you meet your Native Country Licencing Requirements (if applicable)
· Other suggestions: Night PIC Cross Country for ATPL, Seaplane Rating, Tailwheel Training
