It should also be noted that the ground schooling and the flying phase are presented on a program determined by the availability and ability of the student, allowing for the student to pursue the course at a pace that is both comfortable and convenient.
Night Rating
A night rating enables a pilot to fly after sunset and before sunrise.
Requirements
5 hours of night flying training
10 hours of instrument flight training
10 hours of pre-flight briefing
A night navigation exam
Night rating test
Commercial Licence with Instrument Rating
The applicant should:
1. Be not less than 18 years of age
2. Have passed a commercial pilot medical examination
3. Hold a general certificate of competency in radiotelephony
4. Have acquired a minimum of 200 hours flight time, which should include:
a. 100hrs as Pilot in Command
b. 20 hrs cross country flight time as Pilot in command
c. 10 hrs night flying, including a night cross country as pilot in command
d. 40 hrs of instrument flight time, of which 20hrs may be done on a approved flight simulator
e. Have passed the CAA theoretical examinations
f. Have passed a commercial pilot’s license flight test by day and night, with an approved examiner
g. The flight test must be carried out in at least a single-engine retractable aircraft, with a variable pitch propeller.
