Crash Apparently Occurred Thursday Night
ARBOR VITAE, Wis
The Vilas County coroner said three men, including two from the Milwaukee area, died when their single-engine plane crashed near the Lakeland Airport.
Paul Tirpe said the victims were ages 61, 50 and 40. He said no names are being released until Saturday because relatives still need to be notified.
The plane was a single-engine Cirrus SR22 owned by BlueSky Taxi, a Chicago area charter service. It crashed early Thursday night about a half mile southwest of the airport.
Tirpe said the pilot was from Chicago, where the flight originated. The plane landed in Milwaukee to pick up the two passengers.
Tirpe said one of the passengers owned a cottage at Star Lake and the men were flying to northern Wisconsin to enjoy a long weekend.
