لقى شخصان مصرعهما فيما اصيب اثنان اخران بعد تحطم طائرة صغيرة فى مقاطعة كيبيك غرب كندا، وفقا للتقارير الواردة في يوم (الخميس 11 ديسمبر).
وقالت السلطات ان الحادث وقع ليلة يوم الاربعاء فى منطقة ساجويناى بوسط كيبيك، مشيرة الى ان الضحيتين فى العشرينات من عمرهما.
كانت الطائرة، وهى من طراز كينجير ذات المحركين تحاول الهبوط فى مطار سانت هونور فى كيبيك، بعد ان غادرت فال دور فى وقت سابق فى المساء. وانتهى بها المطاف بالتحطم فى منطقة غابات فى ساجويناى. ويجرى حاليا التحقيق فى سبب الحادث.
Two pilots are dead after a plane carrying four passengers crashed in the middle of the night on the outskirts of Saint-Honoré, a village in Quebec's Saguenay region.
The two passengers, identified as employees of the Iamgold mining company, were airlifted about 15 kilometres to a hospital in Chicoutimi with “non-life threatening injuries,” the company said in a statement.
The pilots, both men in their 20s, were employees of Exact Airlines from Baie-Comeau. Each were said to have five years experience with the company.
Police said the Beechcraft King Air 100 plane took off Wednesday night from Val d’Or in Quebec’s Abitibi region.
A distress call was received at CFB Trenton in Ontario at 10:45 p.m., triggering a search and rescue operation, authorities said.
A search plane from CFB Trenton and a helicopter from CFB Bagotville, near Chicoutimi, were dispatched, in addition to rescue workers from the Quebec provincial police and the Armed Forces, plus local volunteers.
In blowing snow, rescuers were lowered via helicopter and used snowmobiles to penetrate the densely wooded area where the distress call originated.
The rescuers said they reached the crash site, just four kilometres from Saint-Honoré, around 4:45 a.m.
Two men were declared dead at the scene.
In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, Toronto-based Iamgold said the crash had taken place near its Niobec Mine, north of Chicoutimi.
Plane crashed in poor weather
Two investigators from the federal Transportation Safety Board were examining the wreckage, which will be transported to a laboratory in Ottawa, said board spokesman Jean-Marc Ledoux Thursday.
Ledoux said it appeared the crash had taken place during the plane’s approach to the Saint-Honoré airport.
