Airbus John Leahy and Emirates president Tim Clark and chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoI) for the purchase of 50 of the stretched A 380 - 1000 plus 50 options. The MoI is expected to be firmed up during the Le Bourget Airshow taking place this June in Paris, at which time a formal announcement will be made. The unit price of the A 380 - 1000 was given as US $ 520 million, though launch customers typically get double digit discounts on list prices. First deliveries of the stretched version are scheduled for spring 2018.

The stretched aircraft will have a passenger capacity in Emirates 3 class configuration of 812 passengers, range will be 7800 nautical miles, sufficient to cover all of Emirates current high capacity routes.
