نبذة عن الـ Second Officer :
قصة أحد الطيارين في الخطوط الملكية الهولندية KLM :
KLM works with second officers on the B-744,MD-11,and B-777.
We call them the co-co-pilots. They have two golden bars on the uniform.
Their function on board is being a cruise relief pilot for when the captain or FO wants to get some sleep
They are not allowed to take-off or land the plane.
In fact they can't be behind the controls anywhere below 20.000feet
Every pilot starting at KLM has to go through this, and currently(not too many pilots being trained and hired) it takes at least 5 years to become FO
Advantage: As a rooky pilot you get to start on wide body planes.
Disadvantage: It must be real frustrating after some time not to do any real flying.
To my knowledge no other company uses this concept.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm very curious about it.
Also what is your opinion about this
