Well, the main thing to be considered in descending the airplane on the glide path for the approach is the "GROUNDSPEED" .. As the groudspeed increases, the rate of descent increasing as well, & vice versa ..

And for normal approaches with 3 degrees glide slope, the simple method to calculate the rate of descent per minute is multiplying the groundspeed by 5 .. For example; our groundspeed on approach is 120KIAS, our rate of descent must me 120x5=600ft/min ..

Note: Groundspeed = True Airspeed correcred for wind ..
