Dear ....

Thank you for your enquiry regarding flying training at Aptrac Aviation.
I have attached an information package for you as well as pricelists. If required, we can customize the course for you specifically, to match any prior experience you may have and to suit your individual needs. We have also included a monthly payment schedule available for course fees.

The CPL takes minimum 12 months but more time may be needed due to weather and individual student progress. Once you have completed the CPL, you will only have 200 hours. It is extremely rare if an airline takes you on with such little experience and so you will need to build up experience before approaching an airline. This can be done by flying for charter companies, instructing at a school, bush flying in Africa, etc.

A good qualification to have when approaching an airline for a job is an Airline Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL). This licence requires 1500 hours of flying experience of which a certain amount must be instrument flying, night flying, turbine hours, etc. You also need to write another six subjects. All these hours can be gained while you are doing charter flights, instruction, etc and you can write the subjects over a period of 18 months while building the hours.

As it takes time to build the hours (two to three years) and you will be working elsewhere, you will have to come back to us once you have all the requirements for the ATPL and we will arrange for you to do the test with a Designated Examiner (DE).

Courses start at regular intervals on the dates specified under "courses" on our website. If a course is marked as fully booked, you are still able to put your name on a waiting list for that particular date. We will let you know if there is a cancellation. We now offer an exciting course which offers a combined CPL and ATPL ground school. Once you have written the CPL exams and then passed your CPL, you will also be entered for the ATPL exams. Once these have been passed, you will leave here with a “frozen ATPL,” meaning that you have completed all the theory for the ATPL and only need the hours. This is a great advantage for employment opportunities.

These courses are run by our own full-time, dedicated ground school lecturer who is a very experienced lecturer and pilot and holds an ATPL.
We provide accommodation, fully inclusive of meals and laundry at one of our three crew houses which are conveniently situated within walking distance of the school. They are near to numerous shops, restaurants and pubs. Please confirm with the school that there will be accommodation available for your intended date of arrival.
We have a high number of students who come to us from the middle east, UAE, Dubai, etc. We also have a high number from Nigeria and Kenya who have relation to the UAE.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Michaela Meiswinkel
